The old world Italian wines have passed on
to a new generation which is making wine with the class and
character of the best in France or California. Gone are the days
of wicker-clad Chianti bottles. The era of Super Tuscan wines
began about 20 years ago. |

Barolo / Barbaresco
Although the 1997 Brunello di Montalino got
such great press it appears the 1998 Barolos could be the best
of recent years and the 2000 is rated 100 by WINE SPECTATOR,
however the 2000 need time. They show more fragrance with sweet
tannins. Try a true Italian Barolo and enjoy the talents of the
wines from the Piedmont. We purchased these wines at pre-order
prices and have added a lesser mark-up to make them attractive
to those who may not be familiar with Barolo. |

This is the wine made from the Sagiovese
grape which is being talked a lot about today. The 1997 vintage
rated a 99/100 by WINE SPECTATOR. It is a vintage to lay down and
perhaps enjoy occasionally now. |
